TRC20 vs ERC20 for a USDT-to-RMB Settlement Request

How TRC20 and ERC20 differ, why USDT networks are not interchangeable during transfer, and what to verify before an RMB settlement request.

Illustration of two separate blockchain network paths reaching a verified wallet checkpoint

TRC20 and ERC20 describe token standards on different blockchains. For a USDT-to-RMB request, the safe choice is not whichever network seems familiar: it is the exact network and wallet confirmed by the desk for that transaction.

Never treat the labels as interchangeable. Tether issues USD₮ on multiple supported protocols. ERC-20 tokens operate through Ethereum-compatible smart-contract standards, while TRC-20 is the TRON smart-contract token standard.

What ERC20 means

Ethereum documents ERC-20 as a standard interface for fungible tokens implemented by smart contracts. It defines common behavior such as transfers, balances, supply and approvals. When a desk confirms ERC20 USDT for a request, the customer must use the matching Ethereum network and the confirmed receiving address.

What TRC20 means

TRON documents TRC-20 as its smart-contract token standard using the TRON Virtual Machine and notes compatibility with the ERC-20 interface. Compatibility of token behavior does not make the blockchains or destination addresses interchangeable. A TRC20 request must use the confirmed TRON route and wallet.

Why the distinction matters in practice

A wallet application may show the same “USDT” asset name across several networks. The balance label does not determine where the transfer should go. The sending network, receiving address and supported token contract must align.

Sending through an unconfirmed chain can lead to delay or permanent loss. Do not assume that a desk can recover a wrong-network transfer, and do not attempt a second transfer until the first situation has been reviewed.

Do not choose from generic fee claims

Network costs and confirmation conditions change. This article does not claim that TRC20 is always cheaper or faster, or that ERC20 is always more secure or suitable. Check the current wallet interface, current network cost, the amount the wallet will deduct, and the network supported for the request.

Pre-transfer network checklist

  • The written quote names the network.
  • The wallet address belongs to that same network.
  • The selected asset is the intended USD₮ token, not a look-alike asset.
  • The sending wallet supports withdrawal on that network.
  • The amount remaining after any sender-side network cost matches the instruction.
  • The address is copied from the current official conversation.
  • The quote remains valid.

What to retain after sending

Save the network, transaction hash, sending address, receiving address, token amount and timestamp. Use a suitable blockchain explorer to verify the transaction on the network actually used. A transaction record should match the quote; it does not replace the separate RMB recipient confirmation.

Check the withdrawal screen before approving

Some wallets or exchanges present several withdrawal networks beneath the same USDT balance. Read the full network name and fee display, then compare them with the desk’s written instruction. Do not choose a network because its fee appears lower if it is not the confirmed route.

Also check whether the platform subtracts its withdrawal cost from the amount or charges it separately. The amount arriving at the confirmed wallet must follow the transaction instruction. If the interface is ambiguous, capture no sensitive information publicly; pause and ask for clarification through the official conversation.

Questions about network choice

Can I use ERC20 if the quote says TRC20?

No. Pause and request a new confirmation. Never change the network independently.

Can I reuse a wallet from an earlier request?

Do not assume it remains valid. Confirm the current wallet and network together.

Which network does ExtentExchange support?

Support is confirmed for the specific request. Ask the desk before transferring.

Confirm the chain before the transfer

Use the official contact process and retain the complete on-chain record.
